Song: Perfect day by Lou Reed.
This is simply a self made montage with a beautiful song. Apologies if I am infringing copyright. Kindly advise and I will take it down. I've mentioned many times that I love my field of work - human relations (la relation d'aide) but lately, and maybe it's the Christmad spirit, I find that my appreciation for the role I have keeps growing. After four years of being a career consultant, meeting clients, advising on career transition and management is such a precious place to have in a person's life. I am still always thrilled when clients want to schedule their next appointment right away, when I meet them at reception and hear about their day and ongoing challenge. The truth is, I am a part of their day. My role is to guide, advise and bring out their inner strength. The way I see it, we are there to provide knowledge, self-awareness, assist in removing obstacles and do it with an open heart. To me, that is a priceless priviledge. Giving backSo I am on my way to work this morning and I take a seat in the metro. At the next stop, a young man gets up and exists and I notice what looks like a credit card on the floor. It was quite dirty what with all the snow and salt the city is now under. I got up, picked up the card and noticed it was indeed an access and visa card all in one that someone had lost. I immediately dropped it in my bag with the intention of notifying the bank once I got to my office, which I did and destroyed the card afterward.
As I left the metro, I then noticed a lady that needed to open a bigger door to exit since she had a baby carriage with her, yet the door was stuck. I waited for her to make eye contact with me and once she saw me, I let her know I was getting help. Which I did...and she was able to pass. In 5 minutes, I was able to help two strangers, never getting any thank you. Just the simple satifsfaction that I made a small difference in someone's day. I treated them simply as I wish to be treated had I been in the same situation. Nothing heroic, but it does feel good. For a few seconds, you forget your worries meanwhile, helping another individual. Merry Christmas Montreal! Ivana xox As promised, here is this year's Christmas Brunch Bunch! Lots of fun!! |
